Manure cellars

Lime produces more homogeneous livestock fertiliser and reduces odour problems and wear and tear on buildings.

Lime can be used to improve the flow properties of manure and thus ensure a more homogeneous fertiliser. Adding lime also reduces odour problems. Lime can be stirred in or added to dung channels throughout the year.

Using lime to slightly increase the pH of manure helps reduce the amount of hydrogen sulphide given off by the fertiliser. This helps reduce wear and tear on buildings.
