The plant has been expanded in line with market fluctuations throughout the century, and is now a production facility for high-quality and stable quick lime (CaO).
The kiln at Hylla has a daily capacity of around 200 tonnes. After firing, the quick lime is processed through fractionation and grinding to create products tailored to the market. Production runs 24 hours a day throughout the year.
In addition, quick lime is processed into slaked lime (Ca(OH)2) through a separate process (quenching). The plant mainly supplies bulk products, but some of the products are packed in sacks.
Norway is the main market for Hylla products, but there are also regular deliveries to Sweden and Finland.
